The bee

Bees are part of the hymenoptera order and comprise a high number of species, more than 20 000.

One colony can have 50 000 to 60 000 female workers with some hundreds or at most some thousands of male workers.

The queen lives from 4 to 5 years, while the workers live from 5 to 7 weeks.

Bees are not immediately aggressive unless they feel threatened. Some conditions raise their aggressivity, like wind, storms, artificial odours, alcohol or sweat. Their barbed sting is torn off during stinging and stays in the wound with the venom pouch which continues to spread poison. And for bees, stinging means their own death.

Emergency measures

It is important for bee stings not to remove the sting before using ASPIVENIN® as it facilitates the extraction of venom.

ASPIVENIN® is very effective against invenomization from insect stings, but one mustn’t exclude recourse to medical care as soon as possible for serious cases.
